(29 Aug 1978) The Rhodesian Nationalist Leader, Mr Robert Mugabe, Sunday August 28, accused Britain and the United States of "scheming" with members of the Smith regime in Rhodesia and cast doubts on the prospects for an all-parties conferer on the future of Rhodesia. Speaking at Dar Es Salaam airport before leaving for Maputo, Mozambique, Mr Mugabe, who is co-leader of the Patriotic Front, read a statement in which he accused Britain and the United States of being "engaged in a clandestine game to contrive yet another internal agreement with the rebel Smith as chief manipulator". He said the British and the Americans were "assiduously scheming" to break the Patriotic Front in order to achieve their "evil purpose of establishing a neo-colonialist state in Zimbabwe"
