Our story begins with a curious beast—a cursed prince passing through the otherworldly streets of his enchanted land on All Hallows’ Eve. But this is no ordinary prince… and this is no ordinary eve.
As the night deepens, he sheds his disguise, revealing the creature that lurks beneath. Mane wild and untamed, he prowls the shadows, his roar echoing through the dark as he seeks a cure for his curse.
But as he searches, a chilling realization strikes—there is no cure! All Hallows' Eve is the only night he can take corporeal form. His true fate revealed, he comes to realize that, for all other days of the year, he roams the shadows as a skeletal specter—a creature neither of this world nor the next, cursed to wander eternally.
Beware what lurks in the dark… some curses have no cure.
(an original story by me….and Beau)
Happy Halloween! It’s that time of the year when I work out what costume Beau should wear. This year, and since I have the world’s most patient dog, he had a twofer of sorts. For a costumed pack walk, he went as the Beast/Prince Adam from Beauty and the Beast. For his annual Halloween photo shoot, he went as a lion amidst the jungle of my houseplants. This made me starting thinking about duality and the masks we wear which lead me to write a very very short story in honor of our cursed prince…who, in reality is sitting on his bed enjoying a chew stick. 😁
