"States must respect the sovereignty of Iraq, just as we expect states to respect the sovereignty of all European states. And the Iranian regime shows with its missile attacks that it not only ruthlessly and brutally oppresses its own population. It is obviously also putting human lives and stability in the entire region at risk in order to maintain its power. This is totally unacceptable and dangerous for the region as a whole."

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has criticised Iran during a speech on a four-day visit to Iraq.
During a news conference following her meeting with the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Baerbock took aim at the country for carrying out missile attacks.
"The Iranian regime shows with its missile attacks that it not only ruthlessly and brutally oppresses its own population, it is obviously also putting human lives and stability in the entire region at risk in order to maintain its power," she said.
Baerbock added. "This is totally unacceptable and dangerous for the region as a whole."
She stressed that "states must respect the sovereignty of Iraq, just as we expect states to respect the sovereignty of all European states."
