Supported by IFA, Never Again Rwanda trained both schooling and non schooling youth with mediation skills. The aim of these trainings were to equip the youth with sufficient skills to address the emerging issues within their communities through using mediation techniques.
Today, the mediators have success stories! These young mediators are playing an important role in preventing violence and transforming conflicts in their communities and implementing various activities promoting the culture of non-violent conflict resolution. Young men and women are using talents and acquired skills in mediating conflicting parties and facilitating conflicts resolution in their local communities and schools.
The conflicts tackled by the young mediators include those conflicts related to effects of the genocide perpetrated against Tutsis in Rwanda such as trauma; reparation of properties looted in genocide, land related conflicts and family conflicts among others.
