Lynchburg City Council voted to formally censure Councilman Martin Misjuns over his behavior towards other council members, city staff, and Lynchburg residents.
During Tuesday night's council meeting, Mayor Stephanie Reed presented a motion to amend the agenda to include a vote censure Councilman Misjuns. Her motion was seconded by Councilman Larry Taylor.
"This motion is based on the following: Councilmember Misjuns has threatened city staff with mandamus actions and has insulted city staff and fellow council members," Mayor Reed said. "Councilmember Misjuns has attempted to illegally impose council authority in city personnel matters that are by law and contract the domain of the city manager. Councilmember Misjuns has attempted to solicit assistance for a plan to set up a fellow council member at a town hall meeting. Further, there is a desire of a majority of city council to visit and discuss this issue. Additionally, numerous citizens have expressed concerns concerning Councilmember Misjuns' behavior."
Her motion was seconded by Councilman Larry Taylor, but Councilman Jeff Helgeson said this was the wrong thing to do.
