"We see the pictures, how the situation is at other borders where people are treated badly. We, the Austrian police, assisted by the Austrian army, have a slightly different approach. We try to calm the people down, we try to build an atmosphere of confidence and we have succeeded so far. The people feel safer (in Austria) than in other countries, this is to our advantage but also to the advantage of these people."

STORYLINE:
Hundreds of refugees arrived in the Austrian city of Heiligenkreuz, near the Hungarian border, early on Saturday morning, after Croatia declared it could not handle the influx and asked neighbouring countries for help.
Buses provided by Hungary transported about 16-hundred refugees, mostly from Syria and Afghanistan, to Heiligenkreuz where they were provided with food and medical treatment.
The refugees then boarded buses to take them to the Austrian capital, Vienna, and the country's second largest city, Graz.
