When you look up at the old beams on Kominkas (traditional folk houses), one will see the beautiful marks left by the carpenters of the past. I had always been curious as to what tools they used and how they achieved those marks. We were fortunate to have a master of traditional hand tools, Amemiya-san demonstrate how the carpenters of the past milled the logs.
