Spring has officially begun and what better way to start it off than with a good diesel gala...
This video is taken on Sunday 04th March 2012 at two locations on the East Lancashire Railway, Irwell Vale and Summerseat and features a wide variety of diesel traction.
A nice treat was the return to service of the newly restored Class 14 D9531 which is numbered here as D9556 and was in use on the Bury - Rammy shuttles. Another "first" was my first opportunity to film D1501 (having seen this loco previously but without a camera), this was the second class 47 made at the Falcon works and was previously numbered 47402, it was involved in a nasty accident at Leeds in 1977 but despite severe damage was repaired. In more recent times D1501 was used in the series finale of BBC's "Life on Mars" programme...
