To anyone who wanted to watch it again, or who missed it the first time, here is the full video of our October 2019 webinar on Modbus RTU Remote Data Acquisition modules. This version also includes locally recorded audio, meaning it's greatly improved over the original conference call audio.
The Modbus RTU protocol is one of, if not the most, widely used industrial communication protocols. First specified in 1979 by Modicon (now Schneider Electric), Modbus now forms the basis for a number of open protocols inlcuding Modbus RTU, TCP, ASCII, Modbus UDP, Modbus Plus, and more.
This presentation is intended as an in-depth overview of serial data acquisition and communication with Modbus RTU over RS-485 and RS-232/422. It is not intended to be a tutorial, or how-to guide, but an introduction to important concepts like master/slave architecture, addressing, registries, data communication, etc. The webinar takes the form of an overview followed by a more in-depth Q&A session. If you have technical questions, we suggest sticking through or skipping ahead to the Q&A portion for more technical information.
Finally, we are a data acquisition company, so the discussion of Modbus RTU will take place in the light industrial communication, industrial engineering, and data acquisition; we will be discussing ICP DAS USA's products and services.
Our Serial Data Acquisition Modules use Modbus RTU to communicate with master controllers, PLCs, and SCADA. In this webinar, we discuss how modbus RTU works, particularly in industrial data communication. What follows is a bit of an overview before we dive into the specifics of our DAQ modules and the different applications of Modbus RTU.
