At around 9.30pm last night (Wednesday 2 October 2024), police were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian on Manchester Road, Bury.
It is believed that a Peugeot 108 collided with a pedestrian who was crossing the road.
The pedestrian – a woman in her 30s – sustained serious life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Peugeot - a woman in her 50s - stopped at the scene and was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving without due care and attention and remains in custody.
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, mobile phone or doorbell footage, from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
