Microsoft’s swan song from the phone business is a Nokia feature phone. It costs Rs.2495, runs of Series 30 Operating System and can access apps from Opera App Store. It has a 2.4 inch screen and has 0.3 Megapixel front and rear cameras. Interestingly both cameras get a flash. This is a feature phone aimed at the masses, focussed on getting basic 2G internet connectivity with a dual sim provision. The phone can store upto 2000 contacts and will have the ability to play basic games and download and store music on a microSD card. Bluetooth and FM Radio seem to be the only connectivity options. Nokia 216 will come pre-loaded with Opera Mini internet browser and Facebook app.
Come December 2016, subject to regulator’s approval, Nokia will launch their first set of Android smartphones and feature phones under the new conglomerate dubbed HMD Global. In may of 2016, Microsoft announced that it will stop making Lumia phones running Windows Phone 10 operating system and has will sell off its feature phone business too by the end of 2016.
If you want to own a device that might be known historically as the last feature phone Microsoft made under the legendary Nokia brand name, lap up the Nokia 216. It will definitely be a collector’s delight.
