alt+f4 not working and not closing down windows or shutting down? Alt+F4 instead plays some other functions like muting microphone? You can fix this issues easily.
Method 1: Turn on Function Lock key! Press Fn+Esc Keys on your keyboard to enable and disable function lock. Fn key is on the bottom left of your keyboard. Esc key in on the top left of your keyboard. Once Function lock is enabled, you can press Alt+F4 to shutdown windows or close down open windows.
Note: If function lock is enabled, your function keys like brightness control, mic and all other function keys will be working only in combination with Fn Key on the bottom left. So press for example fn+F2 to mute or decrease the volume.
method 2: Press Fn+Alt+F4 to shutdown or close down windows. This works if you don't want to enable function lock.
method 3: Registry Editor. Right click and run as admin. Go to the following key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies
Right click on the right panel - new - dword 32 bit value. Rename it as NoWinKeys
Click on file - exit to save the changes.
Restart your computer to apply the changes
hope this helps!
