A fire broke out in a building on the grounds of Saint Petersburg's Zvezda machine-making complex. It manufactures diesel engines, notably those used by the Russian Navy.
The fire extended across a 200-square-meter space.
Russian news outlets, "A fire has broken out on an area of 200 square meters in a two-story structure of 50 by 100 meters," the region's Ministry of Emergency Situations announced.

To put out the fire, seven pieces of equipment and 35 workers were mobilized.

There is yet no information about the casualties of the fire. The reasons of the fire are being investigated.

The incident was reported at 06:38 a.m. Moscow time, and emergency services notified its location at 08:53 a.m.

On the morning of December 13, the Zvezda factory's press staff claimed that there had been no unusual events on the enterprise's premises. They report that a structure unrelated to the factory caught fire in the industrial zone.
