(19 Jan 1978) United States Secretary of State Cyrus Vance was due in Cairo for talks with President Anwar Sadat of Egypt that will probably decide the future of the stalled peace negotiations between Israel and Egypt. Both sides have accused each other of jeapordising the initiative by making tough statements in public. At a joint news conference in Jerusalem Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin promised that that obstacle at least could be removed. He said that if Vance succeeded in persuading Sadat to re-start political talks, the Israelis would refrain from public statements, allowing the committee to conduct its business in a calm atmosphere. the film contains footage of Israeli Foreign Minister Moshe Dayan.
