The daily news from Iran are becoming more and more depressing, and at the same time the urgent need for spreading well-founded information is becoming more and more apparent. Especially after the events at Sharif University two weeks ago, recently at schools in Erbil, we believe it is the university of Bielefeld’s duty to support the protesters with information and publicity.
Therefore we, students and lecturers at Bielefeld University, invite you to participate in our digital panel discussion on the Past and Present of (Women’s) Political Oppression in Iran.
Our discussion will address the following questions: How are the current protests different from previous ones, how are they connected? What are the specific demands of the protesting women? What are people’s demands? What can the German government and the German public do? How can the world support the protestors? What role can a feminist foreign policy play in this? What could the future of the Iran as a country look like?
