► The first of 3 days of rail strikes - the biggest walkout since 1989 - will begin in a few hours. It's all because of a bitter row about pay and job losses - we'll hear more about that in a minute, first let's bring you the lowdown.
Wherever you are in the country, you've probably already got these 3 dates burnt into your mind... Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday this week are officially the dates when workers will be striking. But disruption is going to bleed into the days in between.. so do expect - and prepare for - disruption for the whole of this week.
Part of the reason is the sheer scale of the strike... in an ordinary week there would be around 20,000 daily passenger services operating...With strike action this week, that'll drop down to just 4,500 - less than a quarter of the usual service.
