Dogs acting hungry is very common, so why does it happen?
Well here's 5 of the most common reasons why dogs act hungry all the time:
NUMBER 1 is thyroid issues, particularly hypothyroidism which can have the effect of keeping a dog hungry. This is a disorder that means the thyroid glands are underactive and so don’t discharge enough hormones. The thyroid gland regulates metabolism and while it's underactive, metabolism is slow.
Your best bet if you think this is the case, is to seek help from a good holistic vet to diagnose the problem.
Hypothyroidism can be from genetic inheritance, allergies, toxin overload from medications like steroids, even vaccines. The symptoms to look out for include, depression, energy depletion, low threshold for cold weather, chronic infections, and obesity.
NUMBER 2 is worms and the infestation of these parasites. Common worms include, roundworm, hookworm, tapeworm, whipworm and heartworm. The roundworm lives in the gut, breeds and the worms eventually make their way to the lungs and into the esophagus where they are swallowed and the process begins all over again.

Many dogs can't digest the synthetic vitamins and minerals in kibble as they get passed out as expensive urine which means the dog can always be hungry. Vitamins and minerals are vital for bone health, the heart, muscles and nervous system.
NUMBER 5 is feeding a diet lacking in nutritional adequacy. This is by far the most common problem dogs face today and the number one ill health reason why dog owners come to me for help with their dogs health problems.
Modern pet food provides fewer nutrients despite the labeling and if your feeding your dog the same diet of kibble every day, you can be sure your dog is always hungry.
If your dog has health issues related to diet such as constant hunger, arthritis, allergies, skin and coat problems, digestive complaint, hot spots, diarrhea issues and yeast infections such as ear infection, the first place to start is diet.
I've found over the years that once a dog parent boosts their dogs kibble diet with some healthy nutritional extras, their dog is functioning better and the hunger is not a problem.
