There’s a rumor that on August 12th, 1799, French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte visited the Great Pyramid. After exploring the site, he eventually made his way up to the King's Chamber. Once there, Napoleon asked his guides and assistants to leave him alone inside the chamber.
After a considerable amount of time, Napoleon finally emerged from the pyramid, looking noticeably pale. When one of his aides asked if he had experienced anything strange, Napoleon abruptly responded with, "No comment," and quietly added that he never wanted to speak of the incident again.
Years later, just before Napoleon was exiled, he was apparently on the verge of revealing to his personal recorder or historian what had happened to him inside the Great Pyramid. But at the last moment, he changed his mind, shook his head, and said, "No, what's the use? You'd never believe me."
