The Line opinion panel discusses the protests and APD. Organizers tried to serve a people's arrest warrant on Albuquerque Police Chief Gorden Eden and took over councilors' chairs after the meeting was halted. They then held votes of no confidence in Mayor Richard J. Berry and Chief Administrative Officer Rob Perry. City councilors had been scheduled to consider two proposals, one of which would make the chief an elected position and another that would make the mayor's selection for chief subject to approval by the City Council. They were also slated to consider an ordinance refinancing some city debt. That delay may have cost the city thousands of dollars.
