My name is Masahiro Morikawa. I’m a clinical director at PCC Family Medicine at UVA Hospital. I see all kinds of patients from babies to adults and geriatric populations.
During medical school, I did quite a bit of soul searching. I ended up serving a refugee crisis in the 80’s and 90’s. I did quite a bit of international relief work, and through that experience, I realized that primary care, or generalist medicine, is the most essential and the most useful, anywhere you go.
My passion has been two things in the past 25 years as a professional. Number one, global medicine. The other one is bedside teaching. I love to teach medicine to any providers. I don't separate out either a residence or any primary care providers in war zones— medics, nurses, nurse assistants, whoever provides care.
People should seek care at UVA because of a lineage of excellence. We have a long track record in our history of excellent care, and I want you to consider family medicine as an entry point for that health care system. So, come to see us.
