You don't "play" stock car racing...you race. The #NASCARPlayoffs determine a champion among four eligible drivers through the results of a one-race, winner-take-all finale. Drivers can be good, not great, most of the year, and only run at a championship level at the end of the season. They can also have a record-breaking career-best season and fail to even make the top-four in points. And to top it all off, the ratings are in the tank, fans are more divided on the subject than ever before, and the 2014 champion sees today's title as a mere "bonus." These are just some of the things that make NASCAR's playoff system the worst way to determine a champion in all of professional sports.
