This is our third and final Things to do in Sapa video. Sapa is a popular place in Vietnam for people who enjoy trekking. There are a number of different hikes and treks you can do but if you're short on time or don't want to do multiday or long treks you can follow what we did which was to hire a driver and a local guide to take us to do a way more easy-going short trek between Lao Chai and Ta Van Village.
The short trek between Lao Chai Village and Ta Van Village allows you to soak in the picturesque terraced rice fields of Sapa as well as observe and learn about the local ethnic tribes and their culture from your guide. Our driver picked us up from our accomodation along with our guide, dropped us at the start of the trek then picked us back up at the end of the trek where we said goodbye to our guide too. He then returned us to our hotel.
Our guide Phinh was very friendly, warm and spoke English well. You can call her directly through mobile if you'd like to book her as your local guide too. If you do book her services, please let her know you found her through watching our video :)

NB: if you plan on doing longer hikes, it's also recommended to hire a local guide who is familiar with the land.
A Hmong village which is much closer to Sapa's town centre is Cat Cat Village. It's definitely way more commercialized and catered to tourists but the views you can get within the village as well as Cat Cat waterfall are worth checking out if you're able to avoid the crowds and don't mind lots of stairs.
Motorbike taxis readily offer their services in Sapa's town centre so it's an easy and fun way to get to Cat Cat village. Just agree on a price with them before hopping on and confirm if you want them to wait for you after too. Take down their phone number just in case you need to contact them.
