Change Background Image on Gmail is easy:
Click the gear icon at top right, choose a theme from the drop-down menu, pick a theme you want. Click Save.
To change the Gmail background with your own photo the step the same as the first one. Click the gear icon, theme, scroll down and click My Photos button on the right corner.
After you click the My Photos button, the window of select your background image appears. Select upload a photo and click the Select a photo from your computer button. Choose the photo you want.
