And some of it was only muted so we can still see it. While sliding down the hill anakin reaches out his hand and You can see his mouth moving as if hes speaking, so what was he saying?

Lucas wanted to drive home the point that obi wan felt anakin was dead to him, (from a certain point of view) which is why the line was changed to be past tense. I loved you. But I could not help you.( i loved you)
