A wild giant panda disrupted the quiet village life in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province on Friday. The panda lost its way but luckily ran into some kind-hearted villagers, who captured the animal to prevent it from hurting people or being hurt by dozens of dogs in the village. After making sure it was healthy, the female panda, which weighed around 100 kilograms, was released into the nearby forest later that day.
According to China’s criminal law, killing a wild panda can be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison. In March 2015, China released the result of the fourth research on wild giant pandas in China. There are currently 1,864 wild giant pandas in China, a 16.8% increase compared to the last research.
