‘No Reason To Stay’ is simply about getting out of a situation because you literally can’t find one reason to stay. Maybe you’re in a relationship with someone you care about, whether that be a lover, family member, friend, even a work colleague, and you find yourself constantly being the one who is always giving yet always feeling empty. If you ask yourself, “why am I fighting for this to work?” and you can’t find the reason … that is the reason to go.
“I’ve always loved that saying “no reason to stay is a reason to go.” If you’re giving and giving and can’t find the ‘why’ for staying, whoever it’s with, then it’s time to go. Usually a phrase like that is hard to fit into a song, but we managed to do it! I wrote this in LA and while I was there, I got some incredible musicians and singers into the studio and got to work. I wanted to create something that took me back to my soul/gospel roots - I’m really proud of how this track ended up.” - Guy
