Today most people associate Afghanistan solely with Islam, but for centuries, the country’s eastern mountains were home to the pagan peoples of Kafiristan, whose name literally translates to land of infidels. Surrounded on all sides by mighty Muslim empires, the Kafirs fiercely fought off many invasions, holding on to their culture and ancient religion for centuries. In this video, we will explore the origin of Kafiristan, the vibrant culture of its people, and how this unique society adapted to the oncoming of the modern world. We will also discuss the Kalash people and their present in Pakistan
