This is the Hymer Free 540, the smallest campervan in the Hymer collection with a length of 541cm, width of 208cm and height from 260cm. It costs from EUR43,600 but by the time you start adding extras that cost could significantly rise! It can be put on a GVW of 3,300kg or 3.500kg. There are other vans in the Free series which are larger.

Hymer says that this campervan has compact dimensions and premium-quality comprehensive standard equipment. It can accommodate as many as four people thanks to the optional poptop roof.

The Hymer Free is based on the Fiat Ducato and as such comes with a variety of safety and entertainment systems that have been introduced such as the new Fiat multimedia system including a 7-inch, 18cm navigation device and the integrated ISOFIX child seat mount amongst others. .

There is a double bed in the rear that can be folded up out of the way, and the table has a swing-out extension.

The bathroom has a fixed washbasin and there is an outdoor shower function.

There is a compressor refrigerator with a 65 litre capacity.

The vehicle features a bright and stylish look. Matt white surfaces and silver-grey details combined with oak tones create a harmonious interior. Pleated insect screens pre-installed in the factory make balmy summer nights in the great outdoors a particularly enjoyable experience, whilst the standard insulated windows and the insulated floor mean that city breaks or winter sports trips are even possible during the colder months.

There are all sorts of extras such as concertina cab blinds for the cab as well as modern alloy wheels. The pop top roof is also an option with a rather hefty price tag and if you are thinking of putting four people in a 541cm vehicle then one word which comes to mind is squashed!

In the autumn of 2020 Hymer plans to add the Free 540 "Blue Evolution" van to its collection. It has a sporty, bicolour design in Storm Blue Metallic. It has matt black 16-inch 42cm alloy rims and a glossy black radiator grille. A pop-top tent in the roof that is also coloured black means that the Free 540 is able to offer up to four berths. It comes with cruise control as well as LED daytime running lights and fog lights. There is a 90-litre diesel tank so one should be able to get well over 1,000km on one tank of fuel. It comes with an integrated reversing camera. With a polished silver effect combined with white locker doors, the interior of the "Blue Evolution" special edition has an open and bright appearance. The bicolour, grey upholstery combination and the colour-coordinated "Evolution" flooring with a wood finish create a modern overall appearance. Blue decorative cushions pick up the exterior colour of the vehicle and add subtle touches of colour to the living area. A utensil bag in the entrance area rounds off the interior with additional storage space. It also comes with an anthracite-coloured awning.
