The journey from Gurugram to Vaishno Devi was one I had been eagerly anticipating. We planned to take the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra expressway, a route that promises to reduce the travel time to just 6 hours once it is fully operational by March 2025. Currently, only the section in Haryana is functional, so Google Maps guided us through an alternative route via Patiala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Pathankot.
To break the long journey, we decided to stay overnight in Pathankot. We checked into Hotel Starlite, a cozy and budget-friendly option with a tariff of ₹1500. After a restful night, we continued our drive to Katra early the next morning, energized for the spiritual adventure ahead.
Upon reaching Katra, we checked into Hotel Tridev, which offered a comfortable stay with a tariff of ₹1800. After parking the vehicle and freshening up, we began our pilgrimage to the sacred Bhawan.
The trek started at Banganga, and the serene path offered a sense of peace and devotion at every step. We paused briefly at Ardhkuwari, a significant spot on the way, where Mata Vaishno Devi is believed to have meditated. The journey was physically demanding but spiritually fulfilling, and the divine energy along the way kept us motivated.
Finally, we reached Bhawan, the holy shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi. Standing there, amidst the chants of "Jai Mata Di," a sense of calm and gratitude washed over me. Seeking blessings at this revered site was the culmination of a journey filled with faith, effort, and devotion.
