Exploring Evora in Portugal, the historic capital of the Alentejo. Évora is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has a well-preserved old town center surrounded by medieval walls, and many monuments dating from various historical periods, including the Roman Temple. The Romans conquered Evora in 57 BC and expanded it into a walled town. It was under the Moorish rule (715–1165). Evora was chosen to be the European Capital of Culture in 2027.
