Greetings! The end of October is here, Thanksgiving is just weeks away and Christmas not far behind. Time to start seriously thinking about what you are going to make for all those Holiday get togethers family dinners and nifty gifties for friends family and co-workers.
One thing is certain, whatever sweet you choose to make you will need vanilla of some sort. You can choose from so many forms of vanilla. Did you know that?! You don't just have to reach for the vanilla extract, it's good, but there are other options that you can reach for that will give you a boost of vanilla flavor that can be used along with or in place of traditional extract. Vanilla powder is a great option or addition to your holiday baking.
Vanilla powder as you may have guessed is ground vanilla beans. I have shown some vanilla powder that I purchased. In a 1.1 ounce jar it cost $6.00! I buy vanilla beans in bulk every year. I buy enough to share and use throughout the year for making extract, vanilla sugar and vanilla syrup and of course I share with my friends and family. In all, I probably go through about 2 pounds each year.
Vanilla powder if an excellent flavorizer to add to your baked goods or holiday treats. You get the intense flavor of vanilla that will enhance your vanilla extract and you will get those noticable "flecks" of vanilla bean that let people know that you used the real thing in your goodies.
