In this video we take the GeForce GTX 970 and compare it head to head with the Radeon R9 390 to determine which is the best value $300 graphics card.
Testing with just a few select games doesn’t really give you the full picture so for this head to head battle we’ve selected 22 of the latest and most popular graphically intense games to run the 970 and 390 through. Testing takes place at 1440p as well as 4K, though neither of these GPUs are really intended for 4K gaming.
On top of that we will be testing each game with two different quality settings. For example Battlefield 4 was tested using the maximum in-game quality settings with 2x multisample anti-aliasing enabled and then again with AA disabled completely.
The Witcher 3 has been tested with HairWorks enabled and then disabled, while Tomb Raider was tested with and without TressFX. Both GPU’s were tested using a Core i5-6600K processor under a fresh install of Windows 10 with the latest drivers installed.

HOW WE TEST
A fresh copy of Windows 10 is installed on our test system along with the latest drivers. The majority of the games were tested using Fraps to record 90 seconds of gameplay while the average was taken from 3 runs. The single player mode was tested in every game to ensure accuracy from a repeatable test.
