Hameed Iqbal Bhatti is believed to be among the hundreds missing or dead in the migrant shipwreck off the coast of Greece on June 14, 2023. The 47-year-old paid US$7,600 for a trafficker to smuggle him into Europe, where he hoped to rebuild the life he once had when he failed to do so upon returning home to Pakistan after working abroad for over 20 years.
