Residents of the Paraguayan city of Limpio on Saturday protested against the pollution by a factory that turned half of their local lagoon a brightly coloured purple.
Several months ago, people began noticing that the water of the Cerro Lagoon had changed on one side of the roadway that divides the body of water, and that fish and birds were dying.
They reached local environmental authorities who took water samples on Wednesday, but residents said they did nothing to stop the source of the pollution.
