Getting a bad review is part of owning a business, it’s going to happen no matter how hard you try. The difference between a good company and a bad company is how you respond to it.
You can get passionate and tell them 40 cuss words as to why they’re wrong. But that could lead to more people who haven’t spoken up to just lash out against your company too.
Take Bill Cosby’s situation, an extreme one, but once the first victim came out so did many others. Most people are shy to leave the first negative review, but after they see an attack on that person, people won’t hesitate a second time.
We suggest handling the bad online review this way:
2:46 - FIRST - Address the review professionally. “Hey I see what we did didn’t work for you, I apologize let’s make it right.” Put the negative result back on yourself.
4:05 - SECOND - Apologize in detail. It’s not weak - just say you’re sorry.
4:29 - THIRD - Make it right. Do what you think will make the customer happy and make the situation right.
Don’t be too prideful to admit when you’re wrong. A bad online review can open the floodgates for many more which WILL ruin your reputation.
