Beautiful Glacier lagoon (Jökulsárlón) in Iceland has blue waters and floating icebergs from the surrounding Breiðamerkurjökull Glacier, a tongue of Vatnajökull Glacier, the largest glacial ice cap in Europe.
Located in the southeast of Reykjavik, about 4.5 hours driving. There is a parking place, a restaurant and restroom. We can see the icebergs right away, without having to hike. There are also lots of day tours from Reykjavik.
It is very famous and popular place, so we have to make reservations online to get into the zodiac (rubber) boat tours.
There are two companies, the one that we took was Ice lagoon, it went to the glacier wall that is 7 km from the shore and then we explored iceberg sculptures.
The Glacier Lagoon offers amphibian boat tours (bigger boat) and also zodiac boat tours. Kayaking is also available.
In winter, we can go ice caving to crystal ice cave, but it is not possible during summer, because the ice are melting and the caves become rivers.
Love this place so much, the arctic scenery is just so beautiful beyond words.
