RESIDUAL is a 93-minute award-winning documentary focusing on how stress, anxiety, cumulative trauma and PTSD are affecting our nation's police officers, firefighters, EMT personnel and other first responders. The story is told exclusively by former and current first responders, their families, medical professionals, psychologists, and therapists.
RESIDUAL has been designed for anyone unfamiliar with post-traumatic stress, PTSI or PTSD, and for people who simply want, or need, to know more about this growing issue. The film gives viewers a broad understanding of what first responders experience on the job and describes how cumulative stress can build over many years before finally affecting an individual. In the documentary, first responders also describe the debilitating symptoms that can haunt them for years.
RESIDUAL then educates viewers about the chemical reactions that occur in the brain during a traumatic experience and how these reactions can be successfully treated through a variety of medical, psychological, and holistic modalities. Scientifically tested and proven treatments and therapies are presented along with contact information for resources.
Finally, the film explains how PTSD does not need to be a death sentence. With the right treatment plan, first responders can continue in their careers, prosper in their relationships, and live long and healthy lives.
