34 matchdays with a total of 612 games per season across Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 have to be scheduled on the basis of the international fixture lists provided by FIFA and UEFA. Requests from local authorities, the police, clubs, stadium operators the media and fans also flow into this complex planning process.
Taking into account international competitions, other major events and weighing up various stakeholder interests, many options are reviewed and rejected in order to ultimately be able to create a well working fixture list for the upcoming season.
