Licorice, is a mass produced from licorice root from Glycyrrhiza glabra. Licorice root contains the glycoside glycyrrhizin, licorice's main ingredient, and has a sweet taste. Licorice is a common flavoring agent in sweets and medicines, but also occurs in, for example, liqueur and ice cream


Licorice root is a species in the pea family. It grows naturally from eastern and southern Europe to eastern Asia. The species is grown in, for example, France and Germany. In Sweden, licorice root is sometimes seen as a garden plant. The flowers are bluish white. The plant has meter-long and relatively thick roots.
