One of the more dangerous plant species found in Australia is Gympie Gympie (Dendrocnide moroides)
It is found mainly in wet forests and goes by a few different names like stinging tree, stinging nettle and suicide tree.
One treatment from the old days is to snap off a piece of Cunjevoi plant (Alocasia brisbanensis) that grows very close to Gympie Gympie and use the sap from the stem to stop the stinging. Some say this could make it worse. Another way to stop or lessen the stinging is to use extreme cold directly on the location along with a waxing kit. The waxing kit will pull some of the syringe like hairs out of the skin, in theory. The most recomended by experts is to flush the area with a watered down mixture of Hydrochloric Acid. More on this is available online, I am by no means a Doctor.
Try to steer clear from this sucker on your travels!
Cheers
