In honour of the second annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a commemorative gathering was held at Lebreton Flats Friday afternoon following a march of over a thousand people from Parliament Hill.
The event, attended by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Governor General Mary Simon, Murray Sinclair and many residential school survivors and others, was called Remembering the Children. In addition to powerful speeches, dancers and poets, VIPs left shoes below the main stage in honour of those children who never came home from residential schools.
