China and Malaysia have pledged to strengthen cooperation. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi paid a visit to Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob in Putrajaya today (July 12). It's the latest stop on a multi-nation tour through Southeast Asia -- a region where the US is also looking to expand its influence. Mr Wang also met with his Malaysian counterpart Saifuddin Abdullah. Both men touched on a variety of topics, including a pan-Asia rail system to speed up connectivity. On its part, China will increase purchases of palm oil and tropical fruits from Malaysia.
