This autumn, Forest Fire Management Victoria will be reintroducing planned burns into areas affected by the 2019/20 bushfires.
With 1.3 million hectares burnt during the Black Summer fires, Gippsland’s forests have the potential to regenerate at the same rate, creating an even fuel load across vast areas.
By carefully burning small patches of this forest each year for many years, we can create a mosaic effect that reduces the danger to communities and the environment.
