They were turned on for the test through an electrolyte capacitor 2.2 microfarads, an amplifier on a TDA2003 chip.
The plastic for the frame was taken from the shelf of an old refrigerator, cut out and sanded with sandpaper, the grille was from some kind of tape recorder. Painted matte black.
