Antonio is an old style barber from Italy who does an outstanding job while entertaining with his whimsical stories and funny jokes. He has been cutting our dad's hair for over 20 years. I've been going to Antonio's Barber Shop since I was 8 years old. Hizami, Fikri & Amirul have also been to Antonio's many times in the past few years (Asfa cut his own hair though).
Antonio has been operating a barber shop in West Haven, Connecticut since 1965 (that was 55 years ago). A classic barber shop run by a man who could probably cut your hair perfectly even with his eyes closed. Prior to that he was cutting hair in Sicily, Italy. He is currently over 70 years old.
Tony is awesome and down to the earth - a great guy and he really cares about his clients and what's going on with them. According to my dad, he is one of the best barbers he has ever experienced. Great quality hair cuts at a reasonably cheap price. He even cut hair "Korean Style" nearly perfectly when requested by my brother Fikri who loves everything about Korean.

For some with Italian heritage – the barbershop holds a dear place in their hearts.
It is almost a common stereotype to assume that most old school barbershops will have some old Italian man intensively carrying out his craft on his customers head or face. In fact, the barbershops of Italy are much like they are in the United States – a mens club of sorts for socialization and of course cleaning up your masculine identity.
You don’t just have to be an old school Italian to appreciate the talents of a good barber from back in the day. While you will likely pay a premium today for the services and nostalgia – it’s the history, memories and dedication to this art of barbering that must go on. The relaxing and comforting experience of the barbershop, while being free of your social media and digital connections are often worth the price to be paid to take a step back in time.
For many people, the barbershop also holds another part of their identity. Fast forward a year later, even after Hizami attended MIT, when he went back home during the winter break, he insisted on getting his hair cut at Antonio's. Anthony will be our barber as long as he is able to cut hair and keep his shop open.
