Update: I am indeed wrong about this dryer being the oldest dryer on YouTube in the UK to have a build date. Others have found older ones, and I myself have recently found a dryer that I think has a 2002 build date.
I believe this building opened in 2008, owing to this dryer’s build date and the fact that GSV shows most of the surrounding grassland to be fenced off for works at that time, plus a section of the building being empty can be seen through a window. It’s next to a country park with a closed and locked toilet block, which includes the disabled toilet.
I’m very surprised Hyco sold these in 2007, I’m also surprised that they put build dates on their dryers back then. This is possibly the oldest build date ever seen on a dryer found in the UK on YouTube, other than my most recent Joseph Whitaker School video. Of course feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. Using the serial number and build date difference of this dryer and the last one of these I found, I can estimate how many are sold a year and would say that Hyco started selling this dryer between 2000 - 2002.
This leisure centre is operated by Places Leisure, who operate a lot of Derbyshire Leisure Centres as well as the ones around Rotherham. Their main dryer choice is this, and their new choice and replacement dryer is the Xinda “Hyco Tornado”, as Hyco stopped selling the HOKWANG rebrand and now use Xinda. One toilet at the Rotherham Leisure Complex was seen with a KINGWE Bluedry God of Dispansar though.
These toilets are in view of the reception desk so I had to pick the gents or disabled to go in and I picked the gents, I couldn’t go into any other toilet but I imagine they all have one of the two Hyco-branded nozzle dryers.
