It is vital that your vehicles coolant level is optimum. Check your coolant levels from time to time from the reserve bottle. It should be between the min and max. It is normal for some evaporation to occur over time. If however you there is a rapid decline and you are always at the min level, you must get it checked. There could be a leak, or it could be evaporating faster due to a crack somewhere in the reserve bottle.

Do not mix different brands/types of coolant, that could be disastrous for the engine. Using only water is also not advised as it can cause corrosion over time.

Coolant expands when hot, so check levels when cold. Never deal with coolant when its hot. Never open the radiator cap when its hot, serious injury could happen. Coolant is not changed frequently, check your owners manual for service interval.
