Diversity and Inclusion is now a standard to be met in all areas of health care. Orthopaedic surgery has traditionally been dominated by men and even now there is reluctance by women to embrace this speciality. To discuss the topic and breaking down the barriers, we welcome Deborah Eastwood, the current BOA president and Orla Hennessy, a trainee and winner of the Core Trainee Prize 2021 for her essay “A Woman Like Me”.
This webinar may be of particular interest to any trainees who may be considering a career in orthopaedic surgery.
Speakers include:
- Deborah Eastwood, President of BOA, Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust
- Orla Hennessy, ST4 in Trauma and Orthopaedics, Department of Trauma and Orthopaedics, Galway University Hospital, Galway, Ireland.
- Caroline Hing, Consultant Orthopaedic Knee Surgeon, St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
