Narasimha Avatar is one of the ten major incarnations of Lord Vishnu in Hindu mythology. The story goes that there was a demon king named Hiranyakashipu who had received a boon from Lord Brahma that made him virtually invincible. He became arrogant and started tormenting the people and the gods.
Hiranyakashyap's own son, Prahlada, was a devotee of Lord Vishnu and refused to worship his father. This enraged Hiranyakashyap and he attempted to kill Prahlada many times, but Lord Vishnu always saved him.
Finally, Hiranyakashyap challenged Lord Vishnu to a fight and asked him to appear in front of him. Lord Vishnu then took the form of Narasimha, a half-man and half-lion creature, to defeat the demon king.
Narasimha attacked Hiranyakashyap at dusk, when it was neither day nor night, on the threshold of a courtyard, using his sharp claws to tear apart the demon king's body. The fight between Narasimha and Hiranyakashyap lasted for a long time, but ultimately, Narasimha emerged victorious and killed the demon king.
Thus, Narasimha Avatar is seen as the embodiment of divine justice and the protector of his devotees, especially in times of extreme danger. The story of Narasimha Avatar is often told in Hindu temples and is celebrated in the form of festivals and rituals.
