Chinese participants in the "Blue Strike 2016" joint training between Chinese and Thai marine corps began to move toward a training site on Friday, marking the start of an onshore training stage.
At 08:00, an echelon team composed of nine amphibian armored vehicles and part of the trainees left the Sattahip naval base for the training site.
The training involves three mixed teams comprising 240 Chinese marines and 150 Thai marines. They will, according to the requirements of weapons demonstration and exchange visits, train in such subjects as amphibious attack, helicopter slide landing and armed force technical maneuver.
During the military drill, the Chinese naval vessel "Changbaishan" joined the Thai amphibious warship HTMS Angthong in carrying out humanitarian aid and trained in such subjects as vessel communication, ship-based helicopter landing and taking off as well as amphibious attacks. It was learned that onshore training stage of the joint military drill will end by June 7 and the two sides will have more joint training on the subjects like anti-terrorist in urban area, reconnaissance, explosive removal, first-aid in battlefield and tactical shooting and some comprehensive live ammunition training.
"The joint drill this time is based on the previous drill. We have added some major equipment such as the amphibious assault vehicle and the armored vehicles and self-propelled howitzer and air-defense missile, in order to further show such quality of Chinese marine corps and excellent weapon equipment, and at the same time, to deepen the exchanges and cooperation of the military forces of the two countries," said Zhang Shunhua, deputy commander and staff officer of a brigade under Chinese marine corps.
